When I first started working on Bunker Punks, Delver was the only other retro roguelike FPS out there. I loved the lofi pixel art aesthetic and quickly became a fan.

Half a year later, I was introduced to Chad via twitter courtesy of Power-Up Audio, who is doing the sound design on both of our games.  We tweeted at each other a bit, but that was about it.

At the Game Developer’s Conference this past week, I finally got to meet Chad in person.

After we were introduced, yet again, by Power-Up Audio, I gave him a ‘zine, showed him an early edit of the Bunker Punks trailer and asked if he wanted to play Bunker Punks.

He enthusiastically said yes.  Then things got awkward.

As I set up my laptop, I realized that the battery in my mouse had died sometime in the past day.

Chad is a warrior though, he just shrugged and said he could play on trackpad.  After all, he played Hotline Miami on trackpad. (Think about that for a second…)

After playing for a while, frantically running and shooting, as is the way of Bunker Punks, he stopped, looked around and said “This is the best screenshot.”

And with that, we have today’s screenshot.

Go play Delver.
